I gave up travelling ...

... by road :-)
, in Santander :-)
, for a while :-)
Because the road are along a range of mountains and drivers don't obey traffic rules therefore I'm lucky for surviving until now :-)
I went to Bucamaranga which is the closest city with an airport and there is also a church whose name is Sagrada Família but by far it doesn't remind the Barcelona's one.

The Palonegro airport (Bucaramanga) is on a plateau so the landing should be pure emotion :-)

Telma, it's better for you risk Bucaramanga from your route :-)

As vacation goes by

Another song passed by my mind meanwhile I was drinking the best colombian coffee I tasted until now at La Polita located at Parque La Libertad. Anyway half vacation was gone :-(

Cascadas de Juan Curí

By taking a bus with dubious decor to Charalá :-)

after 40 minutes you'll reach Cascadas de Juan Curí where you can get a free hydromassage just take care with the slippery surface.

Fortunately, the owner will charge any person who cross his property.
Imagine if there is no charge. As I wrote before there is no hope to humankind

San Gil

This city is known as 'La Tierra de Aventura' (The Land of Adventure for english).

For sure, one of them is walking on the narrow pedestrian sidewalk :-) less than one meter wide

The post's title is not written on behalf of me :-)

It's a honest translation from an advertisement that I saw in a restaurant in Barichara where I tasted meat sauced with ants... surely you read correctly... ants :-)

In order to get energy to walk to Guane by taking Camino Real (Royal Path for english). It took about 2 hours and insect repelent was not necessary perhaps because they were afraid of me after eating ants :-). Anyway it's better do it on the way Barichara to Guane because Barichara is located in a higher place.

Below a picture taken by me and I was not up on the roof :-)

but there is always  Plaza Mayor :-)

that is a safe place to wait during rhe rain

Villa de Leyva

By taking El Rapido Duitama (The Fast Duitama for english) bus .... but not so fast as its name suggests :-) and getting off at Tunja and get on another one to reach Villa de Leyva in a cloudy day.

EcoBoring

"You can stay with my advice, anyway I'm not using it" (Translation from a statement posted on a car's window).
On sundays about 100km of roads are open for bikes and pedestrian in Bogotá.

When the money gets tight

It's safe to visit free sights like Museo Botero where pictures are allowed inside without flash.

Nearby is Casa de Moneda where you may sit while waiting for the rain goes by  and taking some pictures :-)

And also drink some coffe at Juan Valdéz which is s Starbuck-style shop.

The money is over and patientness is almost :-)

I've got problem to get money from ATM in Colombia. It's an issue of the bank in which my account is (BB) whose acronym is better not to be written :-)

Meanwhile I used the time to resolve day-by-day subjects like washing dirty clothes. I went to LavaRapido whose name translated for english is FastWash but for my surprise the attendance asked me for when I would like to take the clothes ?.... surprised I answered: for today, of course because it's just wash and dry.
But things don't work this way in Colombia :-)

The same occurs at some breakfast places, for example, if the opening hour is 7:30a.m. go prepared to wait at least half hour... so it's better bring together a healthy sense of patience :-)

Zipaquirá

It is located about one hour by bus from terminal Portal Norte plus one hour to move from La Candelária to terminal :-) where there is a Plaza.... Bolívar ... probably :-)

A visit to the Salt Cathedral is worthwhile too

terça-feira, 16 de novembro de 2010

Walking around central Bogotá

where it's located La Candelaria which is Bogotá's colonial barrio

and Plaza Bolivar of course :-)
As the rain came sooner I visited Museo del Oro but without pictures

Cerro de Monserrate

Fortunately I haven't felt any symptom of altitude sickness (above 3000m sea level) unless when I walked up quickly to run away from the rain :-)
To be honest and for safety recommendation written on the travel guide I took the funicular to reach it and from where I got a gorgeous view of the capital city.
